Player Profile: Brian Moore
Brian Moore is a former England Rugby hooker, known for his fierce competitiveness and technical skill. He won 64 caps for his nation between 1987 and 1995, playing in three Rugby World Cups and helping England to win three Grand Slams in 1991, 1992 and 1995. A key figure in England's rise in the early 1990s, Brian was named Rugby World Player of the Year in 1991, and earned the nickname 'Pitbull' for his aggressive style of play.
Brian also proudly represented the British & Irish Lions on two tours, to Australia in 1989 and New Zealand in 1993, earning five test caps. Moore was vital in the Lions' 1989 series win over Australia, praised for his leadership and toughness in uniting a multi-nation pack. His impact across both tours has led many to regard him as one of the greatest-ever Lions hookers.
After retiring, Moore built a successful career as a journalist, and broadcaster. He has been a prominent rugby commentator for the BBC and Talksport and won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year in 2010 for his memoir 'Beware of the Dog'.
