Allianz Stadium, Twickenham Pick up Gold ECOsmart Accreditation
Allianz Stadium, the Home of England Rugby, has once again further underlined its sustainability credentials with the renewed receipt of a treasured accreditation, from Greengage through its ECOsmart initiative.
We are delighted to announce that Allianz Stadium, Twickenham has achieved a Gold Standard from ECOsmart for the second year in a row, with the accreditation joining other endorsements of our commitment to sustainable events, including, BS20121, ISO14001, ISO50001 and our commitment to achieve net zero.
As a venue, we have been a pioneer in providing sustainable event food, with a 'Zero waste to landfill policy' for the last ten years, a commitment to 95% of food being prepared and cooked onsite, using at least 80% British ingredients in our menus, and recycling all of our cooking oil.
"We've committed to sustainable events over a very long period of time, but it remains vital that we continue to benchmark our standards and provide evidence to our customers on the quality of what we're doing," commented Nils Braude, Managing Director, Twickenham Experience Limited. "This is just the latest example of a highly credible organisation supporting what we do, and we're delighted to have come in at Gold Level again. It's a tremendous endorsement of our team."
Jovin Gonsalves, Allianz Stadium's Health and Safety Manager commented "This recognition highlights our continued commitment to sustainability, responsible practices and reducing our environmental impact. As a stadium and as a team, this has been a great effort by all to achieve this. From small everyday actions to larger operational improvements and targets, our contributions continue to make a real difference to the venue's sustainability. We hope to continue to build on this success and strive towards even higher standards of environmental responsibility."
Upon achieving the accreditation the first time round last year, Andrew Perolls, CEO, Greengage, commented, "Allianz Stadium, Twickenham ticked all the boxes when it came to awarding the Gold Standard ECOsmart accreditation. They are a business that is continually reviewing what they are doing with regards to sustainability and challenging themselves internally.
