Transforming Twickenham: A Case Study of Filming "The Gold" Season 2

Recreating the atmosphere of an American airport lounge within a British rugby stadium presented a significant challenge. The setting needed to feel genuine and immersive for the filming to be effective. The 'Members Lounge' within Twickenham Stadium's West Stand was identified as the optimal space for the film set. Its spacious layout and adaptable features made it an ideal canvas for transformation.

To achieve the desired airport lounge aesthetic, the production team incorporated build elements into the existing bar area of the Members Lounge. This involved installing furnishings, decor, and lighting fixtures reminiscent of a bustling airport lounge.

Close collaboration between the production crew and the stadium's operational teams facilitated seamless coordination of logistics, ensuring that the transformation adhered to safety regulations and venue guidelines.

Location Manager of The Gold S2, Peter Kelly commented "working with Sarah and the whole team at Twickenham was a brilliant experience for the whole crew, we were delighted with the help that was received and as my job is to find and then offer up the best locations for projects, I will for sure be back to Twickenham again in the future."

Twickenham offers a versatile site with a multitude of high spec, commercial filming spaces, including concourse and service areas, vast car parking facilities, as well as a specialised gym, changing rooms, and boxes that could double as boardrooms, high end offices and large restaurant space. All of the film facilities at the stadium are available seven days a week, outside of match days and offer easy accessibility, ample parking and onsite security.
