Twickenham Stadium hosts the 4th annual Christmas Community Lunch
Twickenham Stadium hosted 12 local groups and charities this December to attend the fourth Christmas Community lunch, an occasion intended to bring people together to eat, dance and celebrate during the festive period.
The guests were invited to attend via charities including Vineyard Project, Our Barn, Bridgelink, Greenwood Community, Hounslow Senior Trust, Hampton Hill Voluntary Care, Shepherds Star, Whitton Network, and St Mary's Church Osterley, among others.
Darren Belmont, Head of Operations, Twickenham Experience Limited, explained: "The initiative started in 2019, with the idea of opening the gates of Twickenham Stadium to those in need from our local area during the festive period, to enjoy lunch, entertainment and fun, which leaves a smile on everyone's face."
A traditional Christmas lunch is prepared by the Twickenham Stadium culinary team who, along with full-time members of stadium staff, volunteer their time throughout the day serving the guests.
"The staff are brilliant, their interaction with the guests is a joy to behold and brings a tear to the eye. Entertainment is provided by the amazing "The Rock Choir" who kindly donate their time to this special event, and they never fail to get people dancing along. Guests are also given the opportunity to go pitch-side for a photo, which for some is the first time seeing the hallowed turf of Twickenham" continued Darren.
Nils Braude, Managing Director, Twickenham Experience Limited added: "This fantastic event allows the stadium to reach out to not only those in need of a hot meal but also isolated individuals within the local community that have a need for social interaction in what can be a lonely time of year. The stadium team's enthusiasm for this event is incredible and the positive impact for those attending is clearly visible."
Twickenham Stadium would like to thank everyone involved in making the Christmas Community Lunch such a wonderful success.
